Linda Brandelius, President, called the meeting to order at 10:15 a.m.The minutes of the meeting of February 9 was approved by Kathy Dillon and seconded by Pinky Hordyk. The treasurer's report was was reported by Linda Brandelius as being $1638.65.
Jerry Zimowske reported that he will manage the table at the group expo on March 16 with a video of the last tournament. He will also have paddles for sale at the table.
Pinky Hordyk reported that paid membership is up to 152. It was suggested that on the membership list, that the self rankings be added so that those looking for players of equal rankings might more easily find practice partners. Those self rankings will have to be determined somewhat by the use of the tournament sign ups.
Don Parent gave a summary of how the double elimination tournament will be run. He reported that there were 8 A teams, 9 B teams and 7 C teams. The first games will be played 2 out of 3 games, the winners progressing into the winner's bracket and the losers into the lower bracket. The lower bracket will only play to a game of 15 points. After the team has lost in the lower bracket, it will be eliminated from competition. Sign in will be at 8:30 a.m. Don reported that he expected the medals to arrive in the mail on March 10.
Kathy Dillon will have bottled water and snacks at the tournament. A suggestion was made that the next tournament be determined by the director.
Cal Meissen is continuing with beginners training on Wednesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Jim Westby spoke about the article he's written for the Compass–he's invited all those interested to come and watch the tournament.
Linda Brandelius will look into joining the USPA as suggested by Jim Westby.
The Court Rules as outlined in Linda Brandelius' attachment as been approved by Brandy Garcia. Brandy says the rules for “sign up play” should be posted by the club and not by the Association.
Mona Wheeler moved that the New Court Schedule be accepted with Dave Rogers seconding the motion. It will be posted after the tournament by Pinky and will become active at posting. This is to be on a trial basis.
Frank Castellano showed the board the drawing of our proposed refurbishing of courts 4 and 5 that he will present to the Properties Committee at the meeting on April 13. Linda has spoken to Chris O'Keefe about postponing the resurfacing of the courts until after such meeting. Linda will request to get on the agenda of the Properties Committee.
