The meeting was called to order by President Linda Brandelius at 1:00 in the Multipurpose Room of Orchard Creek.
Pinky Hordyk moved that the minutes of the meeting of August 10, 2010, be approved with a second coming from Jerry Zimowske.
Linda Brandelius announced that the Meadow Vista tournament will be held on September 24 and 25 starting at 9:00 a.m. Linda also told the board that she had spoken to Chris O'Keefe about the need for a shade drop cloth on the back of our awning. He is agreeing that we need one and will look into it.
A motion was made and passed that we will continue to be able to reserve two courts before 8:00 a.m. Drop in play will be from 8:00 to 12:00 with the exception of Tuesdays and Thursday when only court 3 will be available because of team competition. After 12:00 open play will be available for all courts.
Pinky Hordyk moved to appoint a committee headed by Jerry Zimowske to decide on how the reservation system will work. Jerry Zimowske seconded Pinky's motion.
Steve Dalaklis, treasurer reported that our current balance is $1715.38, the party cost was $1700, with revenue collected for the party of $1305. The D.J. cost was $395 which was to be paid by the pickleball group treasury.
A calculation made by Jerry about the cost of balls provided by the club comes to approximately $6 per person with 200 member estimation. With those numbers in mind, Steve Dalaklis thinks we may need to increase the dues to cover the cost of balls.
Pinky Hordyk reported that we have 200 members. If someone wishes to pay dues in November or December, 2010, their membership will be for 14 months. Cal Meissen reported that he handed out a few membership forms today.
Kathy Dillon was absent from the board meeting but she was recognized for doing a great job at the recently held fall party, along with her daughter Julie, husband Jack and grand daughter.
The red and green division teams will not play team p.b. the week of October 11-15 because there are so many players attending the Huntsman Senior Games in St . George, Utah. Play will resume the following week.
Jim Westby requests from anyone who might take pictures at either or both St. George and Meadow Vista to allow him to use the pictures for his articles in the Sun City Newsletter and/or the Compass.
Helmut Koehne reported briefly on the Ladder League play that he used as example from Sun City Grand. Because of time restrains, he said they would be posted on the website but did offer this: If 40 people sign up for one court to be occupied 3 days a week it would take approximately 3 hours; if 50 people, 4 hours and if 60 people, 5 hours.
Sue Jonas moved and Pinky Hordyk seconded the motion that Jerry Zimowske take all this information into consideration when scheduling court usage.
